There are some piano scholarships available for the 2018 Quebec Fiddle Weekend. Piano accompaniment is an invaluable skill in celtic music, especially for dancing, but is a rarely taught skill here in Australia. Interested players are encouraged to take the opportunity of learning from Rachel Aucoin, a highly acclaimed pianist and teacher from French Canada.

Rachel plays with the cult contradance band Raz-de Marée (Tidal Wave) and is one of North America’s leading teachers for folk piano accompaniment. You can read more about Rachel on the Faculty page.

Scholarship applicants must be competent pianists and have a genuine interest in celtic accompaniment and playing for dances. Prior experience of playing this type of music is not necessary.

Scholarship winners will receive from a subsidy of up to $125 on their total camp fees. Prospective applicants are invited to send a small bio outlining their skill and interest to Applicants will be notified within two weeks and will need to register and pay a deposit to secure their place at camp.

Scholarship winners will be encouraged to perform (solo or with others) at a Camper Concert held each evening at dinnertime.
